Any forum website designers out there?

Posted by admin on March 30th, 2010 and filed under website designers | 3 Comments »

i want to start up my own forum website but i am looking at a complete redesign of a typical forum layout. I have some designs on paper but looking for someone to make it into a working platform.

possible costs and any other info would be helpful

if you want to add custom forums etc then your best bet would be to use a already made CMS application or possibly even download an indipendant forum eg SMF phpBB3 using CMS’ like joomla etc would be another idea to impliment the forum idea.
Making a forum if you have the design to get a programmer to design this isnt a simple job , well depending on the complexity of the forum it may require graphics artists and several programmers all of which will charge on an hourly basis more than likely.
You could possibly create your own forum but then you would require some knowledge yourself.
Im currently creating a website myself although the basic website itself is a bit low quality.

How do I earn money on my website with advertising?

Posted by admin on March 30th, 2010 and filed under website advertising | 6 Comments »

I run a website which gets several million hits per month. It was recently feautured on 60 minuts, and is often in the media, so we have a high volume of visitors. I currently use google adsense, which picks what ads show up, and most often, thery’re no very related to what people would visit the site for. That being siad, google is only earning me about $10 a day, when I’m told I could be making hundreds or even thousands give the amount of trafic. How to I go about putting ads on my site that I choose, and maximize how much money I can get?
For your information, I run www.donorsiblingregistry.com, which was just this past weekend featured on 60 minutes (15.23 million viewers). I am an expert at the material of the webstie, but am far from an expert at the techincal aspect of the site, thats why I’m asking for advice from someone who really knows ads.

I took a look at your website and I can understand why Google Adsense is not working for you. The types of visitors you attract is not in the mood to buy anything, they are not using your site as a mere jump-off point — your site is THE destination. Hence, the visitors are not interested in clicking on your ads. Sites like yours do poorly with Adsense. You may want to read the article "Contextual Advertising: Why Are You Earning Only Pennies?" http://www.powerhomebiz.com/022006/adsense.htm which I think perfectly captures your predicament.

A CPM campaign would work better for you given the type of website you have and the traffic you get. I suggest you read the article "How to Generate Advertising Revenues for Your Web Site" http://www.powerhomebiz.com/vol28/adrevenues.htm – you can join banner ad networks and select the campaigns offered for CPM (though some does not allow you to select the campaigns). Here are some of the banner ad networks:

Can a previous employer use my name on their website?

Posted by admin on March 30th, 2010 and filed under website. their | 3 Comments »

A restaurant that let me go several months ago still has me listed as head chef on their website. Do I have any legal standing to get them to take it down?

Yes, you do. It is injurious to your professional reputation to have your name on something that you have no control over.

Have your attorney send them a cease and desist letter.

Anyone here have a website where you use PayPal as your payment? I am having trouble creating new buttons for?

Posted by admin on March 30th, 2010 and filed under website here | 2 Comments »

my products. I have been trying to figure it out for days now. I select the code, copy, but when I go to my site to paste it doesn’t give me the option. I use Yahoo! Small business for my website and my web hosting and they offer PayPal as a payment option so it must be compatible or whatever. I need help!
Also I tryed emailing them and got no response to help me.

"when I go to my site to paste" that’s where your problem is.
You don’t *go* to your website to paste.
I am not sure what your site is but usually you have it sitting in your hard drive and it is as simple as editing an html file with notepad

What Is The Name Of This Band Website?

Posted by admin on March 30th, 2010 and filed under band website | 1 Comment »

You used to go to this website, and then they would have all of these bands that were starting out. From the website it would allow you to create an individual band website.
Example
website.com/bandname
what was the name of this website?

possibly purevolume.com

is there a website that features a different artist everyday?

Posted by admin on March 30th, 2010 and filed under artist website | 2 Comments »

Maybe like a newsletter or RSS feed? I’m talking like old and new artists. I really want to learn more about all different kinds of artists, and usually i only look at the art i like, so having an "artist of the day" (or week or whatever) type thing would be really awesome.

-Thanks so much!

etsy.com has featured artists every hour or so…artfire too has artists that change frequently on their homepage.

does the architect Glenn Murcutt have an official website?

I haven’t been able to find an official website.

No he does not. Nor does his firm. Nothing "official" or personal. He is famous enough and old enough to not need one
