    I was lucky to see Alphonso (bassist) with Santana in ‘88….they literally “fed” off each other, and it was one of the BEST shows I’ve ever seen…..

    I saw this band way …
    I saw this band way back when and they were the OPENING act. Amazing evening. Of course next up was Shakti with L.Shankar Zakir Husain and John M. Then to close was Weather Report with Jaco before he was wasted. At the end. Billy took over the drums. Alphonso join Jaco on basses and McLaughlin join Wayne and Joe out front. I still pinch myself that that really happened.

    @thatiamdisco Those were North drums, made from fiberglass. They were a good idea on paper but in reality, sounded HORRIBLE, just this dead plastic THUD. The idea was to have a drum that would project like mad.

    those yellow drums in front are made by NORTH DRUMS – in the 70’s they made entire kits shaped like this- even the bass drums!
