How much to charge for advertising on my website?

I would like to sell some advertising space on my website. Businesses will be split into counties across the UK and there will only be 2 businesses in each county. Businesses will also be able to list any special offers or promotions they have running as often as they like. These will be listed on a live news feed.
I will only sell advertising space to businesses that are in keeping with my website – a resource for people wanting advice on the care sector for the elderly

What is a reasonable amount of money to charge?

As someone else said, try some Adsense first. That will be a good benchmark. In fact you will find it difficult at first to match Adsense. Advertising depends on visitor numbers, preferably targetted visitors. You should also think about pricing various parts of your website as certain areas , say of the home page, attract more visitors (like top left above crease). Also you can rotate adverts on the same space. Try your lowest suggestion then halve it. (I like to be helpful, not profitable)

No one here will be able to give you a good answer given only the information you gave. Do you have a high success rate for advertising jobs in the past? Will users simply receive your videos or will you put them out on targeted sites for them? These are all things to consider when choosing a price.

If you make a website and put on it a recording of some sort, liking a reading done by multiple people of something you wrote, can you still make money off the website, (through advertising or something) or would you then be required to give some of the money you make to said readers?

That would be up to your agreement with the readers.

I have a website in China – it’s hosted in another country and I will invoice advertisers from a company in yet another country.
Is this legal and can anyone explain tax issues to me about this?

well, like you said, it depends on many factors. You can generally pay as much or as little as you like. But the amount of clicks you receive will reflect this.
