Author Sapphire talks about the new movie “Precious” inspired by her novel “Push,” the process of casting the lead actress Gabourey Sidibe, and the inspirational message of the story.
I agree with just … I agree with just about everything that you’ve said. I’m sick of seeing movies like Dangerous Minds, The Ron Clark Story, Freedom Writers, The Blind Side, The White Shadow and so on where the white person comes in as the savior the save the lowly black folk. And then turn around and say that race has nothing to do with it. What are your thoughts on this? For once, maybe the comment section can be used for enlightening dialogue instead of negativity, discord and stupid comments.
I became a Katie … I became a Katie fan when I saw the Palin interview…to delicately expose a person’s less-than-stellar (to put it mildly) intelligence…why, that deserves an award! This Sapphire interview is tha Bomb! (hip-hop vernacular for ‘good’) I like when Sapphire gave mention to movies/films that feature that Great White Hope for our kids. Like this new Sandra Bullock movie coming out…like that Ted Danson Chess TV movie..there has to be more movies showing us helping US. Selah!
This interview was … This interview was something I really appreciate…I’ve read the book, and I couldn’t put it down; it captivated me. I can not wait to see how the words in the books are captured onto film and come alive.
Sapphire is a deep … Sapphire is a deep spirit and phenomenal writer. I had the pleasure of meeting her at the NBAF in 1993 I believe. I am so happy to see her receiving the commercial success she deserves.
