The Incredible Journey of Apollo 12
It’s the ultimate buddy movie. Forty years ago, on November 19, 1969, astronauts Pete Conrad and Alan Bean landed on the moon in one of the most important of the Apollo flights. This video shows them making a pinpoint landing on a treacherous lunar surface, finding rocks, and generally having a blast. The program features an interview with Pete Conrad, filmed a year before he died in a tragic motorcycle accident in 1999. Credit Space.com with editorial assistance.

@18CaStRaDoMiS89: I’m a big supporter of emphasizing the more science rich robotic missions over the expensive manned missions which pack more PR punch. But I’m happy to see funding go to either type. Because the *real* problem is that space science and exploration get only a fraction of what they should.

@nukezat : Retreated into ourselves. I started to type “honing our fear of ‘The Other’”, but remembered that we’ve always done that. Wonderful as it was, the Apollo program was, in a sense, just another weapon in the Cold War. Americans were willing to fund it not for itself, but as a way to reassert American superiority after the Russians showed us up so badly with Sputnik.

I’m not a moon hoaxer, but I don’t think we can see the stuff on the moon with telescopes…we have recent photos from one of the recent satellites orbiting the moon which show the marks and materials left behind.

The Networks DID NOT cancel their coverage when the vidicon tubes in the camera failed. They replaced the video with studio simulations. I know I saw it.

Try photographing a star on F8 on 1/160th second with 100 ASA film. You will need at least a 10 second exposure on 2.8 or less with a 400 ASA or higher film, which would thoroughly bleach out anything illuminated in direct sunlight.
Buy a camera and figure it out.
