What websites should I look in for statistics about the welfare program?
I need reputable websites with statistics about what demographics are in the welfare program, how long they stay on welfare, etc. Any ideas where to look? I tried googling "welfare statistics" and couldn’t find anything I could use for my paper.
Thanks, Steven. That’s incredibly helpful.
I should have said "programs," the information I need for my paper is basically the different demographics receiving government assistance in general. I’ll check those out.

There is more than one "welfare program".
First, the cash program is Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, or TANF.
That is run by the US dept. of Health and Human Services.
Most food and nutrition programs, like food stamps, are run by the US Dept. of Agriculture.
Other programs are run by the Depts. of Education, Housing, etc.
go to http://www.usa.gov.
In the right-hand column, under "government agencies", click "A – Z Agency Index".
then click away to each agency you want to look at.
